Not every job is measured in acres. Sometimes the challenge isn’t the size of the property — it’s making sure a compact, busy commercial space has the rock-solid infrastructure it needs to run smoothly day in and day out. That was exactly the case when Bill Heaven at OsteoStrong Canfield reached out to us. At 1,800 square feet, but they needed a professional-grade network and camera system built right from the ground up.
What OsteoStrong Needed
OsteoStrong is a health and wellness franchise focused on bone and muscle strengthening — their locations see a steady flow of clients throughout the day, staff managing appointments and equipment, and a need for reliable connectivity across the whole space. Bill needed a network that wouldn’t drop, cameras that would actually cover the space properly, and a setup that a growing business could depend on without thinking about it.
The existing infrastructure gave us something to work with — there was already some Cat5 cabling in place — but it wasn’t going to cut it for what they needed going forward. We kept what made sense and upgraded the rest.
The Cabling
We pulled several new Cat6 runs throughout the space to support the access points, cameras, and network gear. Where the existing Cat5 was still in good shape and in the right locations, we left it in place and put it to work — no reason to rip out something that’s doing its job. The combination of new Cat6 and repurposed Cat5 gave us clean, structured cabling throughout the entire footprint without unnecessary demo work. Everything is labeled, routed properly, and ready to support whatever comes next.
The Network Core
At the heart of the install is a Ubiquiti Dream Machine SE — the UDM SE is an all-in-one network appliance that handles routing, firewall, threat management, and network oversight in a single clean unit. For a business like OsteoStrong, that means one device doing the heavy lifting on security and performance, with a simple interface that makes it easy to monitor and manage. No patchwork of consumer gear, no confusion about what’s doing what.
Powering all the connected devices throughout the space is a 24-port Enterprise PoE switch. This isn’t your average office switch — it delivers Power over Ethernet to every access point and camera on the network, handles multi-gigabit throughput, and gives us the port capacity to grow without ever having to think about running out of connections. Every device on the network has a clean, dedicated, managed connection.
Wi-Fi Coverage
For wireless coverage we deployed Ubiquiti AI access points — purpose-built for high-density environments where you have a lot of devices connecting and disconnecting throughout the day. The AI in the name isn’t just marketing; these units use machine learning to optimize channel selection, transmit power, and client steering in real time. In a busy wellness studio with staff devices, client check-ins, and business systems all running at once, that kind of intelligent management makes a real difference. The result is fast, consistent Wi-Fi from the front door to the back of the space.
Camera System
For security and visibility we installed a combination of UniFi AI 360 and AI Theta cameras. The AI 360 is exactly what it sounds like — a full 360-degree fisheye camera that covers an entire room in a single unit with no blind spots. In a space at 1,800 square feet, one of these in the right spot covers what would take multiple traditional cameras to match. The AI Theta adds targeted directional coverage where you want a sharper, focused view — entry points, the front desk, specific areas that need closer attention.
Both camera models are AI-powered, meaning they’re not just recording — they’re analyzing. Person detection, vehicle detection, smart motion zones — the system knows the difference between a person walking through the door and a shadow crossing the wall. That cuts down on false alerts and makes reviewing footage actually useful when you need it.
All footage records to an on-site UniFi Network Video Recorder, keeping everything stored locally and accessible without depending on a cloud subscription or an internet connection staying up. Bill has full control over his own footage.
The Result
OsteoStrong Canfield now has a fully managed, enterprise-grade network and camera system — built clean, cabled properly, and sized right for the space. Bill can focus on running his business knowing the infrastructure underneath it is solid, secure, and not going anywhere.
Right-sized space, enterprise-grade standards. If your business needs a network done right, give us a call.
